Vintage Zolotas Ram Head Gold Ring

This ring is from Zolotas, one of Greece’s most celebrated jewelry maisons.

Founded in 1895, Zolotas is renowned for blending ancient Greek artistry with modern craftsmanship. The ram’s head terminals on this ring draw inspiration from jewelry of the Hellenistic period, a motif traditionally associated with strength and protection.

During the mid-20th century, Zolotas became particularly well known for its “archaeological revival” aesthetic, reinterpreting motifs from Greek mythology, archaeology, and the natural world. This piece was most likely created in the 1950s or 1960s.

The engraved gold details on both the ram’s heads and the band are exceptional. On the hand, the ring feels remarkably sculptural, carrying a sense of weight, presence, and classical elegance.

The double ram’s head motif has since become part of the brand’s Heritage Ring collection, making this a particularly collectible piece.
